Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha signed Decision No. 49/QD-TTg dated January 8, 2025 approving the National Program on the conservation of endangered, precious, and rare wildlife species prioritized for protection until 2030, with a vision to 2050.

The National Program on the conservation of endangered, precious, and rare wildlife species prioritized for protection until 2030, with a vision to 2050, will conduct surveys, assess the status, and build a database on endangered, precious, and rare wildlife species prioritized for protection.

The program strives to effectively conserve endangered, precious, and rare wildlife species prioritized for protection: improve the population status of at least 10 species; preserve and restore the habitats of endangered, precious, and rare wildlife species prioritized for protection.

Increase the number of endangered, precious and rare wildlife species prioritized for protection, bred for conservation and released back into the wild to restore their populations; by 2030, ensure that at least 03 species are bred for conservation and released back into the wild; strive to achieve 100% of endangered, precious and rare wildlife species prioritized for protection with management and monitoring plans in nature reserves, areas of high biodiversity and biodiversity conservation facilities.

Policies and laws on the conservation of endangered, precious, and rare wildlife species prioritized for protection continue to be improved; organization and management capacity are strengthened in order to effectively support the work of controlling, preventing, and minimizing risks, threats, and negative impacts on their populations and habitats.

The tasks of the Program include: Investigating, assessing the status, and building a database of endangered, precious and rare wildlife species prioritized for protection; Expand and improve the effectiveness of in-situ conservation measures for endangered, precious and rare wildlife species that are prioritized for protection; implement ex-situ conservation for endangered, precious and rare wildlife species that are prioritized for protection; improve the effectiveness of law enforcement and control of activities that negatively affect endangered, precious and rare wildlife species that are prioritized for protection.
