To sustainably harness these advantages to combine economic development with biodiversity conservation, the Ta Dung National Park Management Board, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Viet Nam, held a technical consultation workshop on February 25 to discuss the draft proposal for eco-tourism, resort, and recreational activities at Ta Dung National Park.
The workshop was part of the "Integrated Sustainable Landscape Management through Deforestation-Free Jurisdiction Project" (iLandscape) project, implemented by UNDP with funding from the European Union (EU) in Viet Nam. The project focuses on the provinces of Lam Dong and Dak Nong.
The draft proposal outlines key activities, including developing forest trekking routes, rest stops at waterfalls, an environmental education center, and opportunities to experience local indigenous culture.
Once approved, the Eco-tourism, Resort, and Recreation Proposal will serve as a vital legal framework for Ta Dung National Park to implement sustainable tourism initiatives, including models for Payment for Forest Environmental Services (PFES) related to eco-tourism. This will enhance the value of forest services while reducing pressure on unsustainable resource exploitation—an essential goal of the iLandscape project.
The proposal aims to conserve the region's biodiversity, foster local economic development, improve community livelihoods, and contribute to Dak Nong province's broader goal of promoting sustainable tourism.
