The People's Committee of Quang Ngai Province recently issued Decision No. 1371 QD-UBND on November 7, 2024, approving a document for an additional non-refundable grant of 2.5 billion VND for the biodiversity conservation project in Quang Ngai Province, funded by Fauna & Flora International (FFI) – Viet Nam Program.

With a total non-refundable grant of 2.5 billion VND (approximately 100,000 USD), the project will be implemented over two years, from 2024 to 2025. It aims to establish the Tay Ba To Nature Reserve in Quang Ngai Province, connecting the Kon Chu Rang Nature Reserve in Gia Lai Province and the An Toan Nature Reserve in Binh Dinh Province.

The project focuses on building capacity and a conducive environment for effective and sustainable management of the nature reserve after its establishment. It aims to enhance the skills of the reserve's forest rangers and local community conservation teams.

Through this project, additional support will be provided to strengthen the capacity of forest rangers, community members, and dedicated forest protection teams involved in safeguarding the Tay Ba To Nature Reserve. The project also includes training patrol team members on using the SMART patrolling tool and creating a sustainable financial plan for forest protection efforts of community conservation teams, potentially involving resources from carbon credits and private sector contributions.

Founded in 1903, Fauna & Flora International (FFI) is a UK-based NGO working in wildlife conservation. As one of the oldest global conservation organizations, FFI focuses on conserving endangered species and ecosystems through sustainable, science-based solutions that account for human needs. In Viet Nam, FFI has been active since 1997, primarily focused on preserving native primate species through partnerships with government agencies and local communities.
