Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son emphasized that through the P4G Summit, Vietnam wants to share its vision of transforming the growth model towards a rapid and sustainable path.
The P4G Summit, themed "Sustainable and People-Centered Green Transition," will be held in Hanoi from April 14 to 17, 2025. This will be the first high-level multilateral summit on green growth, transition, and sustainable development hosted by Vietnam.
According to Deputy PM Bui Thanh Son, sustainable development and the green transition have become both an inevitable trend and a strategic path for nations worldwide.
Speaking ahead of the Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit, he noted that the event presents a key opportunity for Vietnam to reaffirm its commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to strengthen cooperation with the international community in advancing a green and sustainable transition at national, regional, and global levels.

This, in turn, will help Vietnam mobilize international resources for development, particularly in climate change mitigation, green transition, digital transformation, science and technology, and innovation," he stated.
As Vietnam enters a new era of national development, the Summit serves as a platform to reaffirm the Party and State's strategic vision: "Vietnam will not sacrifice social progress, equity, or the environment for mere economic growth." Instead, green growth is viewed as a catalyst for restructuring the economy and transforming the growth model toward a future of economic prosperity, environmental sustainability, and social inclusion.
Deputy PM Bui Thanh Son added: "Through the organization of this P4G Summit, we aim to convey to the international community a message of a Vietnam that is determined and making strong efforts to transform its growth model, promote rapid and sustainable development, and showcase its significant economic achievements and potential. At the same time, we wish to highlight the country's unique cultural values and the Vietnamese people's warmth, hospitality, and resilience."
Regarding preparations for the Summit, he noted that, given the importance and scale of the event, efforts have been carefully coordinated from an early stage with the active and responsible involvement of ministries, sectors, and the city of Hanoi. The goal is to ensure the Summit's success, attract strong international participation, and demonstrate Vietnam's commitment, thoughtfulness, and spirit as a gracious host.
As of now, around 600 international delegates from more than 40 countries and organizations are expected to attend. These include representatives from P4G member countries and partners, high-level guests, investment funds, research institutions, scholars, businesses, and diplomatic missions. The Summit will be held in a hybrid format, combining in-person and online participation.
"This number is still being updated. We expect to welcome several high-ranking officials, including the UN Deputy Secretary-General, three Prime Ministers, along with multiple Deputy Prime Ministers and Foreign Ministers, who will attend the Summit in person", the Deputy PM shared.
Vietnam has been actively engaging with P4G member countries and partners to shape the Summit's agenda around the central theme "Sustainable and People-Centered Green Transition."
Discussions will focus on public-private partnerships, investment attraction, and resource mobilization for green development. The agenda will also highlight the application of innovative technologies to improve resource efficiency, reduce emissions, accelerate the energy transition, and develop a skilled workforce for a green economy.
A key outcome of the Summit is expected to be the Hanoi Declaration, which reaffirms the commitment of P4G members to green, sustainable, and inclusive development and to strengthening cooperation in addressing global challenges.
Preparations related to protocol, public relations, culture, and security have also been given significant attention, focusing on thoroughness, respect, safety, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency. On one hand, this enhances Vietnam's reputation for hosting major and important international events, ensuring compliance with international rules, practices, and requirements. On the other hand, it conveys a clear and complete image of Vietnam's culture and people to the international community and global friends.
"I am confident that the success of this P4G Summit will bring value to all stakeholders, helping the international community find more effective solutions to global challenges and achieve tangible results in meeting sustainable development goals," the Deputy PM emphasized.
