On the morning of April 9, in the presence of Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, leaders of Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and Spain's Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in food safety and quality, veterinary medicine, plant protection, and fisheries between the two ministries.
This activity took place within the framework of the official visit to Vietnam by the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, from April 8 to 10.
In addition to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in food safety and quality, veterinary medicine, plant protection, and fisheries, the Governments of Vietnam and Spain also exchanged four other MoUs, including: the MoU on cooperation and political consultation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain; the MoU on cooperation between the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam and the Diplomatic School of Spain; the MoU on cooperation in culture and sports between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports of Spain; and the Framework Protocol on Financial Cooperation between the Government of Vietnam and the Government of Spain.

During the 2019–2024 period, bilateral trade maintained a strong growth rate, averaging 8.7% per year.
Spain currently has 97 projects in Vietnam with a total investment capital of USD 143.88 million, ranking 46th out of 148 countries and territories. These projects are mainly concentrated in the fields of processing and manufacturing industries (56.1%) and accommodation and food services (32.8%).
Vietnam has 3 investment projects in Spain with a total capital of USD 64.2 million, focusing on scientific and technological research and the processing and manufacturing industries. This places Spain 24th out of 79 countries receiving outbound investment from Vietnam.
