Promoting cooperation between Viet Nam and Sweden in the field of green development

On February 20, Minister of Agriculture and Environment Do Duc Duy had a courtesy reception with the Swedish Ambassador to Viet Nam, Mr. Johan Ndisi. The two sides discussed promoting cooperation between Viet Nam and Sweden, especially in the field of green development as well as sharing experiences to implement effective cooperation projects, contributing to promoting the relationship between Viet Nam and Sweden.

Attending the meeting were Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Le Cong Thanh; Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan; Heads of specialized units under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and experts of the Swedish Embassy in Viet Nam.

At the meeting, Ambassador Johan Ndisi shared that Viet Nam and Sweden have a long-term cooperative relationship, which has recently been upgraded to a strategic partnership and it is a favorable condition for businesses of the two countries to strengthen cooperation in various fields.

According to Ambassador Johan Ndisi, there are currently many Swedish businesses that have been investing in Viet Nam, especially in the fields of technology, digital transformation and green development. Therefore, with the vast management field of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the two sides expect to continue to promote cooperation and take advantage of new opportunities for development.

Talking to Ambassador Johan Ndisi, Minister Do Duc Duy said that currently, Viet Nam is making efforts to implement the green transformation strategy and circular economy development. The Viet Namese government prioritizes the application of advanced technology to reduce emissions, recycle waste, and improve the legal framework to support green development projects and the circular economy.

Through the Swedish Embassy, Minister Do Duc Duy expects to open up many cooperation in the coming time in supporting policy development as well as investment of businesses in Viet Nam. The Minister hopes that Swedish businesses will bring advanced technology and green development solutions to Viet Nam. It will attract more Swedish investment projects, especially in the fields of renewable energy, recycling and green technology.

At the meeting, Ambassador Johan Ndisi and Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee Phan Anh Tuan informed about Sweden's SYRE Group wants to invest in Viet Nam, which gives a vision that is very consistent with the trend of the times of decarbonization and waste reduction from textile and garment products along with the ambitious goal in the next 10 years to reduce 15 million tons of CO2 equivalent through promoting the production of recycled poly-ester fibers.

Minister Do Duc Duy highly appreciated and supported the Group's efforts, and authorized Deputy Minister Le Cong Thanh and the Ministry's specialized units to continue exchanging information, sharing experiences and providing legal support to promote cooperation and support the Group in the coming time.

In addition, Minister Do Duc Duy also hopes that Ambassador Johan Ndisi will stick with Viet Nam and act as a bridge to promote cooperation between the two agencies in particular and the two countries in general, especially in the field of green development.
