By the end of 2023: Complete the administrative boundary database

The Prime Minister has just issued Decision No. 129/QD-TTg on extending the implementation period of the project "Completing and modernizing documents, administrative boundary maps and and building a database on administrative boundaries”.

The Government allows the implementation of the project "Completing and modernizing documents, administrative boundary maps and building a database on administrative boundaries" until the end of December 31, 2023. The tasks of the provinces and centrally-run cities must be completed by the end of December 31, 2021; the tasks of the ministries and central agencies must be completed by the end of December 31, 2023.

The project "Completing and modernizing documents, administrative boundary maps and building a database on administrative boundaries" was approved by the Prime Minister on May 2, 2012 in Decision 513.

The project's objective is to clearly define the scope of management according to territorial areas among provinces and centrally run cities; between districts, urban districts, towns and provincial cities and between communes, wards and towns on the mainland and at sea; ensure the closure of administrative boundary lines at all levels and consistency with the national border lines

At the same time, building administrative boundary records, maps and database on administrative boundaries at all levels to ensure scientific, complete, legal accuracy and consistency serving as a legal basis for state management of administrative boundaries and formulating strategies, master plans and plans for socio-economic development throughout the country, territories and localities.

The completed project has products such as: a set of documents, commune-level administrative boundary maps at the scale of 1:2,000, 1:5,000 and the scale of 1:10,000 according to the national coordinate system VN-2000, are fully shown the boundary lines, boundary landmarks, administrative landmarks at all levels printed on the paper signed for certification by the adjacent administrative units as a legal basis for management, use and archival nation; The database system of administrative boundaries, administrative places; positions and names of administrative boundary landmarks; national border line (if any); other relevant information according to the requirements of state management of administrative boundaries (GIS geographic information system) in open form, easy to supplement and update; software to manage, look up and use information on administrative boundaries at all levels ...
