The People’s Committee of Quang Tri Province has approved a new program focused on nature-based forestry and environmental management solutions, climate change adaptation, and community livelihoods. The program is funded by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) with a total budget of over USD 4.6 million (approximately VND 114.8 billion), and is set to run through 2030.
Under the program framework, Quang Tri will implement several key initiatives, including: restoration of priority forest landscapes; sustainable forest management and restoration that integrates landscape connectivity and local livelihoods; nature-based solutions for forest and biodiversity conservation; reducing plastic pollution impacts on the Con Co Marine Protected Area; and a climate-resilient landscape restoration project supporting businesses and community livelihoods.

Photo: Nguyen MyProject activities will be carried out in various communes and districts, including Huong Lap, Huong Phung, Khe Sanh, Dakrong, Ba Long, Huong Hiep, La Lay, Ta Tut, Cam Lo, Hieu Giang, Trieu Phong, Ai Tu, Trieu Binh, Trieu Co, Hai Lang, Nam Hai Lang, Vinh Dinh, Gio Linh, Con Tien, Ben Hai, Vinh Linh, Vinh Thuy, Ben Quan, Vinh Hoang, and the Con Co Special Zone.
The program's overarching goal is to enhance climate resilience across both inland and coastal landscapes in Quang Tri through nature-based solutions. These include improving forest habitat management and protection, restoring degraded forests, enhancing landscape connectivity, conserving biodiversity, and fostering sustainable livelihoods for local communities.
