Early warning of landslides and flash floods in 37 provinces and cities

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha signed Decision No. 1262/QD-TTg approving the Project for Early Warning of Landslides and Flash Floods in Mountainous and Midland Areas of Viet Nam. The project will be implemented in mountainous and midland areas of 37 provinces and centrally run cities from 2023 to 2030.

The specific goal is to complete a set of risk zoning maps due to landslides and flash floods at a scale of 1:50,000 displayed on a geographic information platform at a scale of 1:25,000 for 37 mountainous and midland provinces by 2025; ratio of 1:10,000 and greater for 150 high-risk areas with landslides and flash floods.

By 2030, basically complete a set of risk zoning maps due to landslides and large-scale flash floods for very high-risk areas; Complete the overall early warning and information system with interconnection with ministries, branches and localities, with two-way coordination between management agencies, warning and forecasting agencies and people in the collection. Receive, analyze, process data information, promptly provide landslide and flash flood warning information for mountainous and midland provinces of Viet Nam.

Project to upgrade and develop landslide and flash flood warning models for 37 midland and mountainous provinces of Viet Nam; Build a real-time information-early warning system for landslides and flash floods, with coordination between management agencies, warning and forecasting agencies and people in collecting, analyzing and processing data information; Update the database on landslides, flash floods, socio-economic, and damage situation for the early warning and information system; Trial operation at the central government and 37 midland and mountainous provinces of Viet Nam; equipment investment and information technology infrastructure to serve the operation of the early warning system...
