On October 9, the German Embassy in Hanoi, in collaboration with the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Institute and the Academy of Journalism and Communication, hosted a discussion on climate change titled "Youth Participation in Viet Nam's Just Energy Transition."
This was the third session in the "Ha Noi Climate Talks" series, a set of events to discuss various climate change-related topics. This session's theme highlighted the youth's crucial role in promoting climate action, supporting sustainable practices, and shaping a fair future for their communities.
With support from the German Embassy in Ha Noi and in collaboration with the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Institute, the event placed youth at the center of a public forum organized by the Academy of Journalism and Communication. The event aimed to educate the audience about Viet Nam's current energy transition phase, raise awareness about the need for climate action in one of the most climate-vulnerable countries, and encourage enthusiastic participation.
Young climate ambassadors from the Green Youth Labs project—a training and innovation program funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI)—along with a representative from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (Department of Climate Change), commented on the presentations and shared insights on the government's plan for a just energy transition, facilitating dialogue between youth and policymakers.
As part of the workshop, a photo exhibition showcased the contributions of young representatives to Viet Nam's climate action and their creative ideas to promote a shared commitment to sustainable development and resilience against climate change.
